Arbitrator rules: Palm Desert to pay $555,000-plus to attorneys in voting rights act lawsuit

Palm Desert will be paying more than $555,000 in fees and expenses for lawyers of two residents who sued the city in 2019, prompting the switch from at-large to voting districts. The amount was decided by an arbitrator whose ruling was sent to the city and plaintiffs Lorraine Salas and Karina Quintanilla and their attorneys on Friday.
