Ten nurses at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica were suspended after they refused to enter COVID-19 patient rooms without N95 masks, which filter out 95 percent of all airborne particles and are considered safer than other masks. Hospital officials said the nurses didn’t need the masks to safely do their jobs.
