Two veterans, lifelong partners, part ways when one of them is put to rest more than 2 years after his death

Dan and his partner met in Santa Monica in 1953, the same year Dan left the military. Later that year, Dan got into a motorcycle crash. His new friend visited him in the hospital. “I called (him and) he came to the hospital with a box of Sees Candies,” Dan said. His partner, though, ate the candy and gave Dan only one or two pieces of the gift.
